A lot of customers have been ordering large luxury cracker gifts that will only fit in jumbo crackers with orders for standard size crackers and no doubt they would have been disappointed to find they didn’t fit. We do state clearly if a cracker gift will only fit a jumbo cracker but like us you don’t always want to read all the small print! Hopefully dividing the gifts section into cracker size will help.

Kid Crackers 2011
For Christmas 2011 we have created some kids crackers which we hope you will like. We made them to our mini cracker size and they can easily be handled and pulled by the smallest of hands. As usual they are handmade by our team here in Somerset to our usual high standards! We have made them using a red foil paper which is perfect for Christmas and my 2 boys love any paper that is shiny and red. so the final decision on the paper for the kids crackers was made by my 7 year old son!
We think he made a great choice especially as the kids crackers will include one with a jolly Santa face and the other has an equally jolly snowman figure decorating it. We’ve trimmed the ends of the crackers with gold and silver metallic ribbons just to give them a nice finishing touch.

Don’t forget we sell all our crackers empty with one end left open for you to add your own gifts either from our cracker gifts page or gifts you have sourced and bought elsewhere. Of course we include the cracker snap, hat and very cheesy joke in our kids crackers. You will obviously want to know the size of the barrel where the gifts will go, it’s 7.5 cm x 3.5 cm. It’s is quite small but can hold some treats like chocolates. Luxury Jumbo Christmas Crackers 2011
Silver And Gold Jumbo Crackers
We have just created these jumbo crackers for Christmas 2011. Jumbo sized crackers were extremely popular last year and we have expanded the range for 2011. No expense has been spared in the creation of these amazing crackers!
Available in either gold or silver the crackers have been handmade in Somerset as usual and we’ve added a new luxury metallic ribbon to the cracker cuffs and added hand tied matching bows.
To give these jumbo crackers an additional wow factor we’ve added a large Christmas decoration which is made up of holly leaves, tinsel, pine cone, bell and more.
Limited numbers of these will be available so please order early to avoid disappointment.

Red Jumbo Christmas Crackers
Following on from the silver jumbo crackers above we have created another version using our beautiful sparkly red glitter paper. We’ve used one of our finest red and gold metallic ribbons around the cuffs and dressed it with the same decoration as used on the silver and gold jumbo crackers above. The only difference being it is red.
To keep the costs down we have not included bows with this cracker. The red glitter paper is more expensive than the plain silver or gold and thus we felt it would be too much to the cost of the jumber cracker to add bows. However we can add bows for an additional £1.

Luxury Christmas Crackers
The term luxury Christmas crackers seems to be appear on every box of crackers that appears on shop shelves or in online shops selling crackers. Even the cheapest poorly made boxes of Christmas crackers usually has luxury Christmas crackers stamped all over the packaging. To add insult to injury they have a price tag which clearly indicates that they are anything but luxury Christmas crackers!
So how does one determine what a luxury Christmas cracker really is. Is it the value of the gift inside? Of course an expensive gift inside the cracker certainly pushes that particular cracker into the realms of a luxury Christmas cracker. But if it’s placed inside a cheap cracker doesn’t that defeat the point of being classed as a luxury Christmas cracker?
We at Classic Cracker believe that luxury Christmas crackers are not defined as luxury just because of the cost of the gift inside. In fact we sell more empty crackers without any gifts than any other type of cracker and we feel that our crackers are luxury crackers even without an expensive gift in them.
Some of the criteria that needs to be met for a cracker to be considered truly a luxury Christmas cracker are the following:
Made in the UK – With all due respect to China and other countries around the world, we in the UK make Christmas crackers to the highest standards. China is a bulk manufacturer creating crackers as cheaply as possible and paying low wages for lower skilled staff. Here in the UK we have better working conditions, better pay and workers who tend to take more pride when making luxury Christmas crackers.
Hand Rolled – There are 2 ways to make crackers. The cheapest way is to make crackers using a one piece sheet of cardboard commonly know as a foil board. These are mass produced in China by machines and are put together by simply folding together and either clipping a lip into a flap or gluing down one edge. All the fillers are laid on top of the card and rolled and closed. This process is very simple and unskilled. To the untrained eye they can look very good if the foil board has a good design. Luxury Christmas crackers are handmade using beautiful sheets of paper, hand rolled, scrunch, tied and decorated. This way of making a cracker is highly skilled and is not something you can pick up easily unlike the cheap foil board process
Decorations - using beautiful ribbons and making hand tied bows adds extra credence to the fact that we are making luxury Christmas crackers. All of the decorating on luxury Christmas crackers takes a lot of time and skill and yet the finished cracker looks spectacular.

Luxury Silver Christmas Crackers
Although we are only in May we here at Classic Crackers have to start thinking about Christmas and getting new designs created and online ready for the rush later in the year. Today we have created some luxury silver Christmas crackers using our silver pearlised paper. We have created a luxury seasonal pick of large silver leaves with black flowers buds with silver edging. And to add to the luxury appearance of this cracker we have used a new metallic silver ribbon of the highest quality and wrapped it around the cracker handles. This cracker is sold empty and is available to fill with your own gifts chosen from our website or sourced locally yourself.

We’ve been busy creating more wedding crackers. Actually the gold wedding cracker is something we have made in the past but we ran out of elements of the cracker which resulted in us removing it from the site. We have now found a new supplier who has all the parts we need to make the cracker and thus we’ve reintroduced it this week. We’re very pleased to be able to return it as it was our most popular cracker at the time and hopefully it will be again.
As with all our wedding crackers it’s handmade using the the best materials. We’ve used our pale gold pearlised paper to create the cracker and we’ve decorated it with a real feather boa and 2 gold wedding bells tied with gold metallic ribbon. To finish the cracker we’ve used one of our finest luxury wedding ribbons.

We’ve also created silver wedding crackers version but instead of using bells we have incorporated a silver babies breath decoration. The babies breath is available in gold, white, wine and black if you prefer. We can always alter designs if what if offer doesn’t quite match your wedding theme. We’re also bringing out some mini wedding crackers using the babies breath design. Keep an eye out for these in the next couple of days.

Upgraded Website Launched
Hello everyone. The past week has been spent updating our website. We’re using a much improved piece of software to run our sites and hopefully it will provide a better shopping experience for our customers. Existing customers will need to request a new password from the login screen. I don’t think old passwords were imported into the new software. A new password will be sent automatically. I do recommend you use the password request feature as this will allow you to login and see all you current details and past order history. If you set up a new account with a new email address you won’t be able to see your previous history details.
We have made using the site even easier. Product categories are shown along the top of the site and down the left hand side. We are using a fancy trick to see close ups of our products which saves you clicking on a picture and waiting for it to load. It’s great, give it a try. just hover over it and a close up pops up and you can move it around over the photo to see closer details.
A product review is now available and working for every product in our shop and we’d really appreciate it you could review anything you have bought with us in the past.
A newsletter subscription is available and those who opted in in the previous shop will be added automatically to the new one. I will endeavour to send out the latest news via the newsletter regularly. It’s worth being signed up to as you’ll not only get the latest news but will also receive discount coupons for products which will not be available to non subscribers.
One other new item that will be added in due course is a loyalty reward program. It’s available in the new software and I just need to get it configured.
As you add items to your shopping cart you will see them move into the cart which is visible all the time. You can see what you have in the cart, the shipping cost and overall cost. No more having to navigate backwards and forwards between the cart and shop!
For those of you that hate filling in pages of forms when you want to buy something I think you’ll be very happy with the upgrade as we’ve installed a super quick one page checkout process. You don’t have to register if you don’t want to. Just fill out your name and address, click save and choose your payment method.
For online payments we use PayPal. You DO NOT need to sign up with PayPal to make payment. You can use any credit or debit card that is available in the UK to make payment safely and securely as PayPal will handle that side of things. Please note: we do not see you credit card details and subsequently do not store them, never have and never will!
Yes we can still take payments over the phone. We accept cheques and BACS payments too.

Creative Craft & Stitch Show
We will be exhibiting at the The Stitch and Creative Craft Show which takes place every year at the Bath and West showground in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. The show is over 4 days from Thursday April 7th to Sunday April 10th. Classic Crackers will be exhibiting a number of craft materials which we use to make our Christmas crackers.
Mostly we’ll be selling our luxury papers which we’re told are perfect for card making and paper crafts! Our best deal is 10 offcut sheets for a pound. We have about 30 different papers which include glitter papers in 8 colours, flock papers, embroidered papers, handmade Indian papers, embossed paper, foil papers and a whole lot more. You can mix n match the sheets as you wish.
We will also be selling a wide range of ribbons and embellishments for craft making too. If you’re into crafts or card making why not pop along to the show and come and say hello!

Jumbo Christmas Crackers
Cracker Sizes
This year bigger seems to mean best! Our jumbo Christmas crackers are proving to be hugely popular already and we’re adding to the range every day. Although they are not much longer than a standard size Christmas cracker you can see from the picture they are much fatter. You really can stuff them full of goodies. And you get to put exactly what you want in them and not the usual junk you have to accept from High Street shops. That is probably what makes our fill your own Christmas crackers so popular with many customers coming back to us year after year.
Because of their size it allows us to use more extravagant means of decorating the crackers to give them that wow factor. This one has just been created and added in the past couple of days. It’s been made using our eco friendly paper which is made from the Daphne bush. For those of you who don’t know the Daphne bush can and does regrow it’s bark after it’s been stripped. Therefore they don’t need to be grown and cut down all the time. 
We have decorated it with pine cones and berries to give it a traditional Christmas look and for an added twist we’ve included a real cinnamon stick which produces a lovely aroma! Finally we’ve tied it all up in a lovely raffia bow.
For those of you who don’t have the time or inclination to pick 0ut your own gifts to go into the fill your own jumbo Christmas crackers we do have 2 box sets available at the moment with more to come in the next week or so.
These sets come in 6′s and are filled with our luxury cracker gifts presented in beautiful organza bags with a party popper or rocket balloon thrown in for good measure.

Halloween Crackers
With Halloween just a couple of weeks away we’ve created fill your own Halloween crackers. As usual they are all hand made to order here in Somerset and you should receive them within 5 days of placing your order. Each cracker is hand rolled using our best black pearlised paper and we’ve added a pumpkin for the Halloween theme. Finally we’ve added some orange ribbon to finish the crackers nicely.

Each cracker will be left with one end open allowing you to drop in any fillers you want. It’s easy to do and we provide a bit of ribbon for you to tie the crackers up with. Every cracker will include a Halloween joke, party hat and a snap.
